Building Resilient Farms and Restoring Kenya’s Vital Landscapes.
At FarmLife Health Services Ltd, we empower smallholder farmers—especially women, youth, and the marginalized community—to restore degraded lands, boost productivity, and increase incomes through sustainable agribusiness models. Our integrated approach combines agroforestry, beekeeping, dairy value addition, and market linkages to create climate-smart livelihoods while restoring Kenya’s vital degraded landscapes.
01
Agroforestry & Avocado Production
We promote sustainable agroforestry by integrating fruit trees—specifically avocados—with indigenous and fodder tree species on farms. Through our contractual farming model, we provide certified seedlings, hands-on training, pest and disease management support, and post-harvest handling guidance. What farmers gain: • Access to certified avocado and fruit seedlings • Improved soil fertility and microclimate • Long-term income from fruits and timber • Expert extension and agronomic support
02
Beekeeping & Pollination Enterprises
We train and equip farmers to venture into beekeeping, an income-generating and biodiversity-supporting enterprise. Beekeeping enhances pollination for fruit trees, increases yields, and provides additional revenue through honey, wax, and propolis. Our support includes: • Modern beehives and colony establishment • Farmer training on apiary management and harvesting • Honey processing, packaging, and branding • Market linkages for honey and related products
03
Raw Milk Aggregation & Value Addition
FarmLife Health Services supports dairy farmers by collecting raw milk, processing it into yoghurt, mala, and pasteurized milk, and connecting them to premium urban and institutional markets. This initiative reduces post-harvest losses, improves hygiene standards, and raises farmer incomes. Farmer benefits: • Stable milk prices and reliable market • Reduced spoilage and improved quality • Empowerment of women and youth in dairy processing jobs
04
Post-Harvest Handling & Value Addition
We help farmers minimize losses and increase returns by improving post-harvest management for avocado, honey, and fruit crops. Through training and technical assistance, we enhance quality, shelf life, and compliance with market standards. Activities include: • Farmer field training and demonstrations • Proper sorting, grading, and cold storage methods • Value addition for fruit and honey products
05
Market Linkages & Export Facilitation
FarmLife Health Services operates a contractual farming model that ensures farmers have guaranteed markets for their produce. We begin by supplying certified avocado and fruit seedlings to smallholder farmers and providing continuous training and technical support. Upon maturity—typically after three years—FarmLife buys back the harvest directly from the farmers, aggregates it through organized farmer groups, and links them to premium local and export markets. This approach not only guarantees farmers a stable income but also promotes transparency, quality control, and collective bargaining power. By coordinating aggregation, grading, and logistics, FarmLife enables smallholders to access larger markets that would otherwise be unreachable individually. Farmers benefit from: • Guaranteed off-take through signed buy-back agreements • Fair and transparent pricing for quality produce • Collective aggregation for higher export volumes • Market access through FarmLife’s network of local and international buyers • Long-term relationships built on trust and sustainability
06
Farmer Training, Extension & Capacity Building
Our training programs focus on climate-smart agriculture, financial literacy, and cooperative governance. We use demonstration plots and peer learning to build skills and ownership among smallholder farmers. Training focus areas: • Agroforestry and sustainable land management • Beekeeping and dairy farming • Post-harvest handling and business management
07
Nursery & Seedling Services
FarmLife operates modern nurseries that produce over 850,000 seedlings annually, including avocado, macadamia, mango, coffee and native tree species. These nurseries are managed by community members, especially women and youth. Our nursery services include: • Certified seedlings supply • Technical guidance on planting • Job creation for rural communities
FarmLife Sacco Society Ltd
To ensure farmers have the financial means to adopt and sustain agroforestry and restoration practices, FarmLife operates FarmLife Sacco Society Ltd, a farmer-owned cooperative that promotes peer-to-peer savings, affordable credit, and financial inclusion. Through the Sacco, farmers can save collectively, access farm inputs on credit, and borrow affordable loans to invest in activities such as tree planting, beekeeping, dairy production, and soil restoration. This model empowers smallholder farmers to take ownership of their economic growth, reduce dependency on external financing, and build long-term resilience.
Farmlife Sacco recently was selected for NAVCDP program funded by the World Bank. Signed an MoU officially on 22nd Nov 2024 outlining FarmLife SACCO’s collaboration with the NAVCDP program. This partnership is a significant milestone as we work with grassroots community members to promote sustainable farming practices, empower them on the importance of savings and borrowing, and connect them to markets and value addition opportunities. By the end of next year, we are targeting to recruit over 2,000 farmers into our SACCO, prioritizing marginalized groups, women, and youth to ensure inclusivity and sustainable growth. We are excited about this collaboration and look forward to creating lasting impacts in our community! 💚🌱
Key benefits of FarmLife Sacco: • Access to affordable loans for farm and household investments • Credit-based input supply for seedlings, fertilizers, and farm tools • Group saving and lending models that strengthen community trust • Improved financial literacy and planning through training sessions • Economic empowerment for women and youth in rural communities By integrating financial access with agroforestry and value chain development, FarmLife ensures that every farmer—regardless of size or background—can actively participate in restoration and build lasting financial independence.
